Bravo Company was the first unit in the 1st Cavalry Division to receive a Valorous Unit Citation.
This award was for an action northeast of An Khe on 19 May 1966 and it was a streamer embroidered “BINH DINH PROVINCE”. The Valorous Unit Award, second only to the Presidental Unit Citation, is the unit equivalent of the Silver Star and bestowed upon U.S. Army units that display "extraordinary heroism"
against the enemy.

Award of the valorous Unit Citation to Bravo Company by Commanding General 1st. Cavalry Division, General John Tolson, February 1968.

General Tolson and on his left, our Battalion Commander, LTC Howard Petty,
who was killed on 15 March 1968.
Receiving the award, Captain Peter O’Sullivan, Commanding Officer, Bravo Company.
